Joey Liew Soo Fun is a registered yoga teacher and a certified Pilates Instructor. She has taught and trained students for more than 20 years.
Joey was trained in Merce Cunningham Dance School, New York City. She has studied Contemporary Dance, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Pilates, and Human Kinestic. Joey loves to dance since she was young, she choreographed a dance through a nursery rhyme when she was 5. She participated in numerous school performances as well as being model and actress in local TV drama and sitcom when she was in high school.
Joey is a registered Ballet teacher of Royal Academy of Dancing, London. She is a new generation of choreographer, teacher and dancer in Contemporary, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Pilates, yoga, and body movement.
She was deeply involved in yoga training during her stayed in New York. She experienced and realized the co-ordination and union between body and mind. It aroused her to study more about Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga, and Vinyasa forms of yoga.
Joey was a full time dancer of The Taipei Dance Circle, Taiwan. She toured with the company to Europe, Australia, Mainland China, Hong Kong and Thailand. She has taught and performed with China Dance Arts Institute and Grace Tsiao Dance Theatre in Taiwan. She also participated in TV commercial shooting and choreographed movements for the show during her stayed in Taiwan.
Her own performance work has been presented in New York & Taiwan, and deeply influenced by yoga & Merce Cunningham Technique. Since the establishment of The Dance City in Malaysia, Joey has been writing and illustrating in the local newspapers & magazines about yoga and SF Dance Therapy, which is a method that she combines yoga, chi gong, and dance.
